Something that was often hinted at by people outside of Group ND, was a fear that the field of vehicles would congregate at the far end of the time line in the early 80s. The data has shown that the vehicle makes and models are spread out pretty evenly across the entire time frame of Group ND, i.e. from 1973 to 1984.
| '73 | '74 | '75 | '76 | '77 | '78 | '79 | '80 | '81 | '82 | '83 | '84 |
| 9% | 10% | 4% | 8% | 6% | 6% | 6% | 10% | 6% | 13% | 12% | 9% |
90% of the vehicles are normally aspirated and the majority of the turbo charged vehicles are Volvo 240 series.
Summary:
The importance of this data shows that, provided the rules stay pretty much as currently proposed to keep costs as low as reasonably possible without degrading safety, Group ND will have a wide diversity of vehicles spread across the era and won't be just high powered Turbo cars from the early 80's nor V8 Muscle cars. It also confirms there are vehicles ready to race today and in the foreseeable future.
